Check out my bruise

How pitiful is this.....the bruise from his shots yesterday.

Playing with my new toys

Alex gets such a kick out of this, these balls are blown out the top of this thing and then spiral back down, he likes to try to push them back down the hole and put his face over the hole to let the air hit him in the face.

Oh, how I've grown

I am officially at Toddler....

It is absolutely amazing how fast this past year has gone by, I still remember just like it was yesterday bringing him home from the hospital. Our family has been very blessed this past year. I look forward to watching Alex get older but at the same time I want him to stay a baby. I think about all the milestones we've already witnessed in the past year, rolling onto his stomach, pushing up, sitting up by himself, sleeping through the night, starting him on baby food, crawling, teething, walking, talking, and many many more, yet I know there are still hundreds more to come.....

Guess what Alex got to do on his actual birthday.....he got his 12 month shots, ouch!!! He was not very amused, to say the least, he threw the biggest fit. Of course he was fine before we even got out of the lobby, he even fell asleep in the car on the way to daddy's work, then he was raring to go. He even got to have a few bites of his cake for dessert and he loved it just as much as he did on Sunday.

Our new baby birds are here......

Here are our new baby birds just last week......look how tiny they are. There ended up being 5 instead of 4 like I thought.

And look at them now, just one week later. There is almost not enough room in there for all 5.

And here they are even more close up, aren't they cute......You would not believe what we've done to accomodate these birds for the past week. First of all, the nest is in a dead plant that I've had sitting on the table on the back porch, well since we were having Alex's birthday party outside we had to manage somehow cleaning the porch and not disturbing these little birds. A few days prior to moving the birds, we pushed the table they were on over close to a stack of Tidy Cat buckets we had stacked in the corner of the porch. We let the mama bird get used to the table being moved first before doing anything else, then we moved the whole plant from the table to the top of the buckets, luckily the mama bird didn't have any problem finding her younin's. So, even during Alex's birthday they were out on the porch and when it would kind of clear out, here would come the momma and daddy bird to feed the babies as we sat there and watched. Now the question is, once these birds get big enough to start trying to fly, how are we going to keep Dillon away from them??? He already chases the momma and daddy when he sees them land on the back porch. I will be absolutely devistated if I go out there one day and see one of the babies laying on the ground because Dillon tried to play with it............

Beach Fun

This was Alex & Daddy when he was only 4 days old (you can tell we really listened when the doctors said not to take him to many public places), we just jumped right in to daily activities with the new addition to our family.

Here is Alex and Daddy on his first birthday (almost, March 25) at the beach again.

Daddy, Alex, Mommy, Dillon, Grammy & Poppy
Jacksonville Beach, March 25, 2007.

This was as good a family picture we could get since all Alex wanted to do was run around on the beach, so we had to go down to his level.

Alex & Ella playing on the beach.

This sitting arrangement didn't last long. Ella figured out how to get completely out of her straps and stand up in her stroller, she's such a cute little escape artist. Once they were out running around they definetly did not want to get back in their strollers.

My First Ever Birthday Party!!!!

We had Alex's first birthday party on Sunday, and what a day that was. As you can tell he absolutely loved his Baby Einstein personal size cake, he ate the whole thing. He was still licking his fingers as I was carrying him to the bathtub.

How cute is this?

Watch out Amelia, there might be some competition....meet Emma, our neighbor and Alex's fellow daycare companion. Alex started with a new sitter today and it was very hard on the both of us (me & Alex that is). He' s still does not want to have anything to do with people he does not know, which is a good thing, but when I dropped him off this morning he threw the biggest fit, with the biggest tears streaming down his face as he is saying "mama mama mama", so as you can imagine I had big tears streaming down my face as well. I finally just had to leave because I knew he would not calm down while I was there if I wasn't holding him. Miss Carole is very nice and has a really nice daycare set up in her home, there are 4 other kids that go and one of them is Emma, so I knew he would be alright once he got calmed down and started playing with all the toys and other kids. She did call me about an hour after I left to let me know he was doing fine and playing, he only cried for a few minutes after I left, even though I cried all the way to work and a little after I got there. That was not fun and I know we'll have to do it all again tomorrow.

Crazy Uncle Jeremy

Reminder to self: never let Uncle Jeremy babysit. Not really, Alex loves his Uncle Jeremy, he's always getting flipped upside down or on rare occasions getting put in the display kitchen sink at Lowe's. Baby sold separately.

What's this thing for anyway??

We can no longer keep anything on this side table for Alex has claimed it as one of his own toys. He pushes it around like his walker and turns it upside down and pushes it all over the living room. Thanks to him the lamp and the speaker have to sit on the back of the couch, which if your not careful ends up hitting you in the head when you sit down. Johnny's been hit a few time although he doesn't think it's very funny, I do on the other hand.....

Fun at the park

As you can tell he had a blast at the park, although there are not too many things he can plan on right now. Just give him a few more weeks and we won't even be able to keep up with him.

This thing has multiple uses...

I don't know what it is about turning stuff upside down, but this kid loves it. He managed to get his little cart side down and push it down the hallway on the handle. He's getting so good at walking sometimes he just thinks this thing slows him down so he just pushes it aside. There is definitely no stopping him now.

Who me?

The look of innocence...........

Ready for Easter

Alex loves playing with the bunny & chick, he always tries to pull the little chick out when the egg opens. One of these days he's going to get it.

Starting the day

Today, for the first time, we put Alex in the nursery at church and thankfully we made it all the way through the service without out number, EB4, getting put up on the screen. I was worried he wouldn't like it since he's still kind of going through his separation anxiety phase. He didn't want to let go of Johnny's shirt at first but once the girls took him and showed him all the toys he was okay, he's such a good little sport. Since it was a little past his nap time he fell asleep before we where even out of the chuch parking lot.

I'm too big to ride IN the stroller

We went by the mall after church to get Johnny fitted for his tux and Alex did not want to ride in the stroller so he helped push.

Outdoor fun

It was such a beautiful day today, Alex loves being outdoors. He threw a fit when I tried to put him in his walker so I could get some yard work done, so needless to say I didn't get any done, I just let him play. He crawled all over the back yard and then when we went to the front all he wanted to do was eat the azaleas and push the swing. We definitely cannot take our eyes off of him for very long. He played so hard today that he took a 2 1/2 hour nap.

The next Kentucky Wildcat!!

For some reason Alex loves putting the basketball on his head, almost like he's trying to balance it on his nose like a seal. Alex has already played with that basketball more than Johnny, Jeremy & Grandaddy put together (it was given as a joke since Joan & Wesley have a basketball goal in their driveway).

I scream for ice cream..

We had home made ice cream for desert and as you can tell Alex thorougly enjoyed it. We're going to have to teach him some table manners, check out that foot on the table (and those chunky thighs, thats my boy!!)

Watch your step

Alex has already learned how to go down steps backwards, it is so cute. When he gets to a step he turns all the way around and backs down, although last night he was in a hurry and went down face first at his Uncle Jeremy's and ended up with a bloody lip, but he was fine.

Such beggars

Johnny had a rice crispy treat and both of his little boys wanted a taste.

Hangin out with Grandma

Alex has his very own cabinet at Grandma's house to get into, he loves playing with the measuring cups.
