Latest Happenings....

Johnny's Pre-Birthday
July 6, 2007

Friday night Johnny & I got to go to the Nascar Busch race in Daytona and sit in the FedEx Sky Box. Wouldn't you know it as soon as we stepped foot inside the park it started raining. We could hear the cars as we were trying to make our way to the other side of the track, but by the time we got to the SkyBox it was raining so hard they had stopped, so we never even saw a race car. We sat in the Skybox until 10:00 when they officially called the race. Here is the only picture I took, it is of the truck trying to blow water off of the track.

July 4, 2007
It is now our official tradition now on the fourth of July to start the day off at Aunt Erin's moms' house. We went over to Mrs. Debbie's house and had a wonderful breakfast. This picture was taken while we were waiting for the parade to begin. I actually took this picture upside down!!

Here is the Secret Cove annual fourth of July parade that goes around the lake in their neighborhood. It almost literally goes frame by frame, it was so short this year, they only had one firetruck and no police cars. It's always a hoot though to watch though because some of these people go so over the top on their decorations ( I bet my Aunt Paula from Kentucky could top all of them though). If you click on the collage it will enlarge were you can see more clearly.

Here's some action shots while we were waiting for the parade to start.

Next we headed over to see Grandaddy for his birthday. Alex had played so hard that morning he had to take a quick nap, Johnny and Grandaddy decided they needed a nap as well so they joined me.,

Here are some shots of Grandaddy opening his gifts. He got one of those musical cards and Alex thought that was so cool. Alex kept carrying it around making it sing and he would stop and start dancing. He would start fussing if we tried to take it out of his hands.

Later that evening we headed out to the beach for Phil's annual fourth of July party. It was so crowded when we got there we headed upstairs to the balcony to get out of any harms way. A huge fight had broke out right before we got there so there were cops hanging around in the street. After we had been there maybe an hour, about 10 cop cars along with cops on bicycles came rolling down the street, all with their lights on. They got out and starting yelling that everyone had to leave.

Close up view of all the cop cars. It was pretty crazy. Alex was kicked out of his first party, I'm sure it won't be his last, but that's many more years down the road.

Recent happenings:

Alex goofing off on our elliptical machine and playing the harmonica...he is so talented.

Alex found one of my headbands the other day and kept trying to put it on his head, how cute is this picture.

Trip to Ocean Pond:

(these pictures should be reversed, so your seeing the end of the day first)
Last Saturday we took the jet skies and went to Ocean Pond in Lake City. We had such a good time and Alex loved playing in the water. Here it is at almost 11:00 at night and look who is still up......He had so much fun getting to play with everybody he didn't want to go to sleep. I had tried to put him down about 9 but he would not go to sleep or even pretend to try to go to sleep.

This is a potentially dangerous situation. Alex stuck in between Uncle Jeremy and Uncle Nick....I overheard some of the words they were trying to teach him and it was not pretty (just kidding).

This is the look of pure exhaustion after playing in the water for 5 hours. He slept about 10 minutes once we put him in the car and that was it, he was in a daze the whole way home.

Look at Alex's pretty hair. I had put so much sunscreen on him that his hair was just stiff. Uncle Jeremy and Nick kept it styled for him. Isn't it beautiful.

Alex and Nick had fun playing in the water fountain.

He's so thoughtful, wanting to share bites of sand.

Reading his morning paper getting caught up on current events.

As you can see it is always safety first at our house. Yes, that is a lawn chair in our living room, Alex kept sneaking out the doggie door and crawling up on the lawn chair so I just brought it inside so I could watch him better.

Still a messy eater.

New Angel in Heaven

Some of you may have known about our friends Michael and Tanner Jackson from North Carolina whose daughter Caroline was born with a Congential Heart Defect on February 26, 2007. Michael chronicled her amazing journey through this website: http://www.sweetbabycaroline.com She lost her battle on Father's Day, June 17, 2007. Caroline was a part of our daily life through this website, we prayed for her, cried for her, rejoiced for her on a daily basis and she is truly missed. Michael and Tanner are always in our prayers.

Johnny & I went to Charlotte for Caroline's funeral and stayed in this beautiful bed & breakfast. Here we are trying to take pictures of ourselves in front of the waterfall.

Alex's new favorite thing:

Johnny bought Alex this really neat bike seat and Alex just loves it. His helmet is the only thing he will let us put on his head. He usually cries when we have to take him out of the seat and everytime we walk by the bike in the garage he has to point at it.

Little engineer:
Alex was so determined to get those Tidy Cat buckets through the doggie door. He eventually realized it was easier to open the door and push them through that way.
